My Journey

I hope that by sharing how I got to this point in my recovery, it can give hope to others. We can get our lives back and live a better life. I have been an addict since I was about thirteen years old. I have been to prison, treatment centers, and I have been homeless. My darkest time in my life was when Fetynal took my daughters' lives. I gave up hope, lost sight of my life, and did not want to live. That was almost five years ago. I sought out treatment one year ago, gave the 12-step rooms a chance, and turned my will over to God. Through a spiritual awakening from my daughters, I saw my purpose, and to help others with addiction. So, I presented it to my fiancé and we started the Sara Kate Sober Transitional Living House to give people a safe place to those who want to stay clean and work on their lives. Today I am sober, and I have a great sponsor. I do service work at meetings, and love my life. Today, I work on overcoming obstacles, rather than running from them.
